The Burden of Being

Show Statement

Through a collection of narratives centered around the experiences and challenges faced by women, my work confronts normalized societal expectations and questions their relevance and harm. Erasure, inequality, and marginalization are just some of the many- burdens women in America carry today. The Burden of Being lays bare these quiet violences.

I work deliberately, choosing materials, colors, and forms that intensify the emotional and conceptual weight of each piece. Whether textile, ceramic, or found object, every choice is guided by the narrative at hand and the cultural resonance it invokes. My installations activate space, drawing the viewer into both a physical and psychological encounter. Immersion becomes a form of disruption.

Each piece challenges the viewer to examine the structures we uphold, the conversations we avoid, and the injustices we normalize. My work does not flinch from discomfort. It leans into it, inviting empathy not as a soft sentiment, but as a radical force capable of shifting perspectives and inspiring change.

My work is not merely a mirror of what exists—it is a reckoning.
